Maintaining Your APR

Once you become accredited, it’s important to maintain your credential. APRs must accumulate a minimum of 10 points over a three-year period, with five of those points earned in continuing education and professional development.

Example Activities

There are several ways of accumulating points to maintain your accreditation. All count toward your three-year maintenance period. Below are a few examples:

  • Serving as an instructor at a seminar, workshop or program on public relations
  • Making a presentation or giving a speech on public relations
  • Serving as the chapter accreditation officer
  • Participation in activities such as mentor, professional advisor, and newsletter editor
  • Serving as readiness review panelist
  • Being a member of a committee of your local chapter
